Dennis A. White, 86, U.S. Army Veteran

He was born June 18, 1938 in Lorain to Edgar & Mary White (nee Mazza) and had resided in Amherst since 1978 moving from Lorain.
Dennis graduated from Lorain High School, studied Accounting for a year in college and then went on to serve in the US Army for two years with the rank of Sp4.
He worked at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant in Accounting retiring in 1993. Previously, he had worked at Thew Shovel.
Dennis was an avid golfer and league bowler and enjoyed reading World War II novels and rooting on the Cleveland Indians. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and the Italian-American Veterans Post #1 in Lorain.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Maxine (nee Falkoski); children: Christine Weber (Doug), Gary White, Michelle Witten (Tom) & Larry White; grandchildren: Jeremiah Fulton, Dominic Witten, Tara Cuenin, Christopher Witten and Amanda Witten and great grandchildren: Gianna Fulton & Cameron Cuenin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dodie Koeff & Carmel Dobos and brothers Eugene & Arthur White.
The family will receive friends Sunday February 16, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday February 17, 2025 at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev Timothy O’Connor, pastor of St Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, will preside and AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors. Burial will be private and held at St Joseph Cemetery in Amherst.
