Louise Donat, 97, Loved Polka Dances and Bus Trips to Casinos

Louise was born on September 25, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio to Frank and Louise Seskar. She married Steve “Pitt” Donat on September 25, 1948 (on her birthday); he preceded her in death in 1992.

She was a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain. Louise loved spending time with her family, polka dances / music and going on bus trips to casinos with her sister, Mary Anne “Mimi.” Known as “Gramma Donat” by her grandchildren, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting blankets for her loved ones and she made the best iced tea and nut rolls. She will be remembered for Christmas family dinners in the basement featuring her homemade stuffed cabbage; for being extremely independent and strong-willed; and for simply being there for her entire family when they needed her (she never said no).

She is survived by her daughters, Barb (Jim) Naymik of Lorain, Ohio and Chris (Brian) Morse, of Medina, Ohio along with her daughter-in-law, Noreen Donat. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Steve Donat in 2010; and her siblings, Frank Seskar, Ed Seskar, Joe Seskar, Mary Ann Seskar and Dorothy Concheck.

Visitation will take place Tuesday April 1st in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish – 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Louise’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Neil G. Walters, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
