Kimberly A. Mossbruger, 61, Enjoyed Travel, Fitness, and Yoga

She was born in Lorain on March 16, 1964 and was a 1982 graduate of Admiral King High School. Following commencement, Kim enrolled at Toledo University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing.
For more than three decades she had been employed as a Senior Oncology Nurse at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland. Kim was well known for her smile which could light up any room and for the dedication and compassion that she conveyed to the patients and families she cared for throughout her career. Those qualities led to her acknowledgement by the International Daisy Foundation as a 2020 Daisy Award Recipient for exemplary care in nursing.
During the time she spent away from the hospital environment, Kim enjoyed travel, fitness, and yoga. In addition, she liked spending time outdoors and going on leisurely walks with her pet German Shepherd, Gunner.
She is survived by her mother Jane Plasencia (nee Toth) of Avon Lake, brother Gilbert J. Plasencia (Brenda) residing in Elyria, and sister Dena Mead Plasencia (Tim Ropchock) of Amherst. She also leaves nephews Mickey Black, Michael Black, and Jaret Mead.
Kim was preceded in death by her father Gilbert E. Plasencia in 2023.
Details for a celebration of Kim’s life and legacy are currently in the planning stages and will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
Her burial will take place in Ridge Hill Memorial Park under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
Contributions in her memory are encouraged to either the American Cancer Society or to any pet-related organization of the donor’s choosing.
