Darla Ann Trepoy, 85, Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother

Photo of Darla Ann Trepoy Darla Ann Trepoy (nee Bodnar), 85, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was reunited in the eternal embrace of her Lord on Monday April 21, 2025 at her home surrounded by the all-encompassing love of her family.

She was born in Elyria, Ohio on July 11, 1939 to the late Ida (nee Kavalecz) and Joseph Bodnar. She grew up in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in 1957. As she embarked on the next chapter in her life, she married her high school sweetheart, Frank Trepoy, on June 13, 1959 at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. They created a family centered on faith, family, and education. After having children, Darla attended the newly built Lorain County Community College where she received her Registered Nursing degree.

Darla worked for many years at St Joseph Hospital being one of the first nurses who ministered on hospice. Her life incorporated prayer into action. She later retired from Autumn Aegis Nursing Home. After retirement, Darla enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren who will have many cherished memories of sleepovers, baking cookies, eating out and going on hikes.

Darla was anointed for her journey through attending daily mass at St Peter Parish in Lorain, praying, going on retreats, giving to 8th Street Hunger Center and Homeless Shelter, being a Eucharistic Minister and teaching her faith through PSR for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Frank Trepoy, her son Frank Trepoy (Diana) of Hampstead, NC, daughters: Denise Feuerstein (Ray) and Jill-Marie Galloway (Brian), all of Lorain; grandsons: Derek Feuerstein (Amy Freedman) of Cleveland, Frankie Trepoy (Sara) of Sumter, SC, Bruce Trepoy (Katie) of Goldsboro, NC, Jay Feuerstein (Jackie Belknap) of Boston, MA, and Conner Galloway of Shreveport, LA; granddaughters: Heidi Galloway (Ryan Smith) of Lorain and Holly Galloway of Lorain, great granddaughter Sophie Freedman-Feuerstein, a future great grandson and brother Robert Bodnar of Willow Springs, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Victoria Bodnar, sister Judy Koski and brother Jack Bodnar.

The family will receive friends Thursday April 24, 2025 from 11:00 am until the mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at St Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev Craig Hovanec, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain.
