JoAnn Grosswiler, 83, Avid Sports Fan

Photo of JoAnn  Grosswiler JoAnn Grosswiler (nee Mueller), 83, of Lorain, died Tuesday April 22, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 17, 1941 in Cleveland and had been a lifelong Lorain County resident.

JoAnn graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland and then served with the US Navy from 1960-1961.

JoAnn was the district manager for Goodwill until her retirement. Prior to that, she had worked as a clerk at the Lorain County Recorder’s Office.

She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns. She also enjoyed sewing and reading.

She is survived by her children: Theresa Piatt (Michael), Rhonda Heginbotham, Carrie Ragnoni (Vince), Robert Townsley (Stephanie) and Michael Townsley (Michelle); 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and sister Connie Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Grosswiler and her parents George & Edith Mueller (nee Mellinger).

The family will receive friends Sunday April 27, 2025 from 3:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 5:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Deacon Edgar Gonzalez will preside. Private family burial will be held at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
