Mary Kathryn Nikora, 78, Loved Animals
Mary Kathryn Nikora, Kathy, also known as Sister, passed away quietly in her home on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Visitation time with the family will be held in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
Kathy was born in Lorain, Ohio, on November 30, 1946. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1964. From graduation, she went on to a lifetime career at Lorain Products, employed as a secretary and working her way up to a training coordinator. Kathy was a dedicated employee from 1964 to 2014, retiring after an accomplished fifty-year career.
Kathy loved animals, especially her many pets and horses. She enjoyed bowling and different forms of arts and crafts. She had previously volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Pantry and was also involved in other religious outreach programs.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Korky Nikora, her mother, Kathryn (nee Street), and her two brothers, Korky and Lew Nikora. She is survived by her daughter, Katy Lowman (Pettet), her son- in-law, Jason Lowman, her sister-in-law, Liz Nikora, two nieces, Robin and Denise, and her cherished grandson, Ayden Lowman.

Kathy was generous, tough, hard-working, and fiercely loyal. She always made her family her top priority and was devoted to God. She believed in the dignity and love for all creatures.
