William G. Heider, 83, U.S. Air Force Veteran
William G. Bill Heider, 83, of Lorain, died Monday August 11, 2025 at his home after a short illness.
He was born August 16, 1941 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Bill served with the US Air Force from 1958-1962. He worked at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Elyria and then at the Parma plant retiring after 30 years.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and the UAW. Known to his grandchildren as G Bill, he enjoyed spending his time with them. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed playing cards, woodworking and puzzles.
Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years Patricia Heider (nee Wanek); children: Lori Partyka (Chris), Billy Heider (Anna) & Scott Heider (Ruth); grandchildren: Melissa Rieth (Craig), Ashley Heider, William Heider, Megan Partyka, Allison Heider, Hannah Torres, Grace Heider, Cassie Heider, Abigail Heider & Lexi Heider; great grandsons Miguel Torres & Liam Rieth and sister Alice Kinney (Ray). He was preceded in death by his parents William J & Elizabeth Heider (nee Kosakowski) and brother Thomas Heider.
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 13, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44055. Funeral services will be held in the funeral chapel Thursday August 14, 2025 at 10:30 am followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 418 W 15th St, Lorain. The Rev Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors.
