Joyce L. Tripphahn, 76, Accomplished Painter

Photo of Joyce L. Tripphahn Joyce L. “Cioci” Tripphahn, (nee Zellers), age 76, of Belden, passed away in the emergency room of University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake on the morning of Friday September 19, 2025.

Joyce was born in Lorain on December 25, 1948 and was regarded by her family as being the greatest Christmas gift imaginable.

She attended Nativity BVM Parish School in Lorain and went on to graduate from Lorain High School. Joyce retired from her role as an assistant activities coordinator at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria several years ago. Previously, she had been employed as a production assistant in the finishing department at the General Industries Corporation in Elyria.

A former parishioner of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain, Joyce was currently worshiping at the Lifespring Community Church in Valley City as well as with the congregation at the Impact of Avon Ministry.

She was blessed with a countless number of attributes including a high aptitude and skill level in the field of art. Joyce was an accomplished painter and exhibited a special fondness for projects using watercolors and oils; she possessed equal prowess in the realm of line drawing and illustration.

She is survived by her husband of forty-one years Tim and by her beloved pet Pit Bull Terrier, Louie. Joyce also leaves brothers Joseph Zellers (Fran) of Vermilion, Gerald Zellers of Elyria, and Michael Zellers of Amherst along with nieces Stephanie and Abbey Zellers with whom she remained a strong and relevant presence throughout their lives.

She was preceded in death by her father Leonard Zellers in 1996 and by her mother Diana M. Zellers (nee Zajkowski) in 2003.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Donation in Joyce’s memory, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
