William Michael Yuhos, Sr., 90, Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather
William Michael Bill Yuhos, Sr., age 90, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Friday October 10, 2025.
Born in Amherst, Ohio on November 26, 1934, he was the proud son of John and Elizabeth Yuhos who came to America through Ellis Island.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Bill was truly the patriarch of the Yuhos Family. He worked as an engineer for the Lake Terminal Railroad Company and dedicated more than thirty years of his life to the Lorain U.S. Steel Mill where his exceptional work ethic and reliability were unmatched; during his entire career there he never missed a single day of work.
Bill found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved trains, clocks, watches, pocket watches, cars, and displayed a deep affection for animals, especially the many dogs he cared for throughout his life. Above all, his greatest joy came from his family. Bill had an open-door policy and made certain everyone knew they were welcomed and loved. Bill also made certain his family was always well fed; whether it was a big meal or a simple bite to share. Nobody every left his home hungry.
He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Yuhos , son William Bill Yuhos, Jr., daughter Rebecca Becky Collins, parents John and Elizabeth Yuhos, and brothers John and Joseph Yuhos.
He is survived by his loving children Diane (Michael) Mick, David Yuhos, Sue (Tom) Long, Paul Yuhos, and daughter-in-law Joan Yuhos who lovingly cared for him. He also leaves grandchildren Michael Mick, Matthew Mick, William (Billy) Yuhos, Joshua Yuhos, Heidi Marcum (Yuhos), Holly Yuhos, David Yuhos, Justin Yuhos, Brittany Yuhos, Tyler Yuhos, Melissa Negron (Delgado), Dwan Delgado, Mariah Zurfluh, Brian Yuhos, and Kayla Yuhos along with many great grandchildren who brought him endless joy and pride.
Bill’s legacy of strength, devotion, and unconditional love will live on through the generations of the family he built and cherished. His family takes comfort in knowing that he walked though the gates of Heaven and was reunited with loved ones who passed before him and that his gentle, steady presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
The Yuhos Family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical care staff of the Cleveland Clinic including Dr. Khan, Jean Chapin, Natalie Gill, and the entire Cleveland Clinic Hospice team for their compassionate care of Bill.
Visitation will be Thursday October 16th* from 4:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 6:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Reverend Dennis White Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in North Ridgeville will officiate.
