Marilyn R. Cook, 82, Enjoyed Reading and Jigsaw Puzzles
Marlyn R. Cook, age 82, passed away at Avon Place on the evening of Tuesday November 25, 2025.
Born in Lorain on March 6, 1943, she was a graduate of Brookside High School and went on to attend the Lorain Business College.
Marlyn had been employed as a ward secretary at Lorain Community Hospital for twenty-seven years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Sheffield Lake United Church of Christ where she was formerly active with the Women’s Fellowship.
In her free time she found relaxation in the forms of reading, and working counted cross stitch; she also enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles and playing board games with her nephew, as well as baking snowball cookies and listening to Lionel Richie and Barry Manilow albums with her niece.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Linda Cook of Amherst, niece Vanessa Cook, nephew Richard Cook (Samantha), great niece Lily Cook, and great nephew Xavier Roberts.
Marlyn was preceded in death by her father Robert M. Cook in 1968, mother Mildred P. Cook (nee Dumke) in 1995, and brothers Richard B. Cook in 1965 and John K. Cook in 2024.
Visitation will be Monday December 1st from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township.
