Photo of Andrew Zadorozny Jr. Andrew Zadorozny Jr, 94, of Lorain, passed away from a short illness on Wednesday February 4, 2026 while under the care of Wellspring Hospice.

He was born December 20, 1931 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Andrew served as a mechanic with the US Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska, Texas and England. While in England, he met his future wife Mary Newton and they were wed soon after the war.

He worked at US Steel, Fruehauf and at Don Products where he was an inspector before retiring.

Andrew was a member of St John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church in Lorain where his grandparents were instrumental in the building of the church in the early 1900’s. Founded in 1913 by the first wave of Ukrainian immigrants, these early parishioners worked extraordinarily hard and built the present church structure in 1922. Andrew and his wife Mary volunteered regularly helping prepare food for church events and the Ukrainian booth at the Lorain International Festival.

He and his wife Mary enjoyed their trips back to England to visiting her family as well as traveling to Ireland, Canada and Niagara Falls where they had honeymooned. In Canada, many of Andrew’s family would join them at the family cottage near Lake St Clair.

Andrew was a very loving person who was very endeared to taking care of his home and property, helping his wife with her garden, attending family cook outs at his brother Joe’s home and raising his pet cats and German Shepherds. Andrew loved music, sports and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

He is survived by his daughter Carol Fedor (Stephen) of Chardon, sister Sandra Harcula of Lorain, brother Joseph Zadorozny of Milan and many nieces and nephews locally and in Georgia, Canada and England. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Mary A. Zadorozny (nee Newton), parents Andrew & Anna Zadorozny Sr (nee Dziak), brothers Harry & John Zadorozny and sisters Mary Jane McCrea and Carol Kuznir.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Main Street Care Center and Wellspring Hospice for the excellent care, support and compassion that they provided to Andrew and his family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday February 10, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of Panachida services at 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. The Very Rev Mitred Archpriest Steven M Paliwoda, pastor of St John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, will preside. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS Post #32 will conduct military honors.

Memorial contributions can be made to St John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave, Lorain, OH 44055.
