Maria Cafierro, 97, Enjoyed Cooking and Gardening

She was born May 15, 1928 in Cosenza, Italy and had resided in Lorain most of her life.

Maria was a hard worker who was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was a member of St Peter Parish in Lorain and the church Sacred Heart of Jesus.

She is survived by her children: Luigina DelMonico (Joseph) and Frank Cafierro (Anna Maria); grandchildren: John DelMonico, Francesco Cafierro Sr (Ashley Fuglio), Angela Albores (Oscar) & Connie DelMonico; great grandchildren: Luigino DelMonico (Brittany), Giovanni DelMonico, Antonio DelMonico, Adrianna Albores, Penelope Albores & Francesco Cafierro Jr; great great granddaughter Valentina DelMonico and sister Clotilde DeRose.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carmine Cafierro, parents Natale & Maria Francesca Pecora (nee Saccomanno), grandson Joseph DelMonico and 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

The family will receive friends Monday February 9, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave Lorain. The Rev Robert Kraig will preside. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at St Joseph Cemetery in Avon.
