Rudolph G. Kubasak, 77, U.S. Marines Veteran

Photo of Rudolph G. Kubasak Rudolph G. "Chip" Kubasak, age 77, passed away on February 7, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 26, 1948, in Lorain, Ohio, Chip lived a life marked by devotion�to his family, his country, his work, and the many people fortunate enough to know him.

Chip graduated from St. Mary�s High School, where he was proud to play football and form friendships that lasted throughout his life. In 2010 Chip was inducted into the Lorain Sports Football Hall of Fame along with his teammates. Following graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps for two years, achieving the rank of Corporal. A Vietnam veteran, Chip carried his commitment to service with him throughout his entire life.

For 39 years, Chip worked for Lake Terminal Railroad as an assistant train master, earning the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic, leadership, and unwavering reliability. He was also an active and dedicated member of VFW Post 1662, where he found camaraderie and purpose among fellow veterans.

Chip cherished time spent outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling with friends and family, and especially creating memories with his beloved grandchildren. His presence was steady, warm, and genuine � a source of strength for all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy G. Kubasak (Waldecki); his sons Todd Kubasak (Denise) of Lorain, Ohio, and Mark Kubasak (Heather) of Mount Perry, Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren Mason, Blake, Bella, and Chase Kubasak. Chip is also survived by his brothers Rob Kubasak (Debbie) of St. Augustine, Florida, and Rich Kubasak (Kathy) of Lorain, Ohio; his stepsisters Vicki Radican and Christine Koba; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father Rudolph A. Kubasak, his mother Hellen Kubasak (Stacko), and his niece Tammy Kubasak.

Private family services were held on Friday, February 13th under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel in Lorain, Ohio.

Chip will be remembered for his courage, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
