Robert N. Loescher, 95, U.S. Army Veteran
Robert N. Loescher, age 95, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at his residence under the care of Crossroads Hospice on the morning of Monday March 9, 2026.
He was born in Elyria, grew up in North Ridgeville, and was a graduate of North Ridgeville High School. He played both varsity football and baseball for the Rangers and was a two-time letterman in both sports. Following graduation, Bob was employed as an assembler at the Freuhauf Trailer Company in Avon Lake.
He was subsequently summoned to military service and inducted into the United States Army in 1951; he fulfilled duty assignments as a Corporal attached to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment prior to his honorable discharge in 1953.
Upon return from military service he joined the maintenance department at Bendix Corporation in Elyria. In 1957 he moved to a similar position at the B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Avon Lake where he retired in 1992 following a career that spanned thirty-five years with the chemical manufacturer.
A parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, Bob coached youth baseball and girls softball in Avon for many years. When not spending time with his family, he found enjoyment in gardening as well as facing the challenges of golf.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years Kathy (nee Kraly), sons Paul Loescher (Valerie) of Toledo and Bob Loescher (Dawn) of Sheffield Lake and daughter Sue Turton (Bob) of Wakeman and Barb Ault (Harold) residing in Avon. Additional survivors included sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by daughter Amy Schmidt, great granddaughter Delaney Ault, father Walter Loescher, mother Florence Loescher (nee Eggert), brother Roland Loescher, and infant sister Norma.
Visitation will be Saturday March 14th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Mr. Joe Conley will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by Amvets Post # 32 of Elyria.
