Judith A. Kelly, 88, Enjoyed Camping and Sewing

Photo of Judith A. Kelly Judith A. Kelly (nee Kilbane), 88, of Sheffield Lake, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday March 28, 2026 at Lorain Estates Senior Living after a lengthy illness.

She was born September 24, 1937 in Cleveland to Francis and Margaret Kilbane (nee Brown). She grew up in Cleveland and graduated from St. Stephen’s High School.

Judy began working with her father at the Meat Cutters Union in Cleveland and later worked at several local Fisher-Fazio/Giant Eagle food stores as a meat wrapper and then in an administrative capacity before retiring. After her retirement, she began working as an attendant at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel in Lorain.

A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake, Judy served on the Parish Council, including as Past President, and as a Eucharistic Minister. She served as a Past President of The Lorain County Democratic Women’s Club and was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Local #880.

Judy was an avid supporter of her grandchildren, taking great pride in encouraging their pursuits, celebrating their achievements, and supporting their many interests and travels. She served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for her daughters and enjoyed camping, sewing, playing cards and trips to the casino. She also enjoyed meeting regularly with her Risi Sisters from St. Stephen’s High School

She is survived by her daughters: Eileen Jenkinson of Greenville, Ohio, Kathleen Bevaque (Joseph) of Vermilion, Maureen Hromada (Jerome) of Lorain and Colleen Rosa (Tony) of Birmingham, Ohio; grandchildren: Corey Jenkinson (Christi), Cami Schwartz (Greg), Madison, Jacob & Jasmine Hromada, Michael Morrissette (Christopher Taylor Cole), Amanda Guevara (Ian), Casey Morrissette, Anthony Rosa Jr, Brittany Rosa & Christopher Rosa (Mariana) and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, former Sheffield Lake Mayor Charles H. Kelly in 2006, parents Francis & Margaret Kilbane (nee Brown), sisters: Margie Frank & Mary Jo Stimac, brothers: Alan & Leroy Kilbane and son-in-law Jeff Jenkinson.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lorain Estates Senior Living and Caring Hospice for the support and care they provided to Judy and her family.

The family will receive friends Monday April 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 7, 2026 at 9:15 am in the Funeral Chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 715 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake. The Rev Stephen Shields, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
