Marilyn L. Getz, 82, Enjoyed Counted Cross Stitch and Traveling
Marilyn L. Getz, age 82, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital on the evening of Monday April 6, 2026 following a period of declining health.Marilyn was born in Cleveland, grew up in Lorain, and was a member of the first graduating class at Admiral King High School.
For more than three decades she had been employed as a secretary for First Energy.
She was a long-time parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain. In her free time Marilyn enjoyed counted cross stitch as well as travel and always looked forward to family visits in Denver.
She is survived by sisters Patricia Sather and Susan Minnick along with her brother David Getz (Tracey Happy). She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father John M. Getz, mother Frances E. Getz (nee Gould), brother John A. Getz, and sister Joanne Popovich.
Graveside services will be conducted in Calvary Cemetery (555 North Ridge Road Lorain) at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 15th. Those attending are requested to assemble at the cemetery entrance by 1:15 to join the cortege to the grave. Reverend Craig Hovanec, Pastor of St. Peter Parish and Nativity B.V.M. Parish will officiate.
