Ricardo J. Vargas, 39, Enjoyed Soccer

Photo of Ricardo J. Vargas Ricardo J. “Ricky” Vargas, age 39, of Lorain, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his residence on Friday April 24, 2026.

Ricky was born in Fremont, Ohio on November 20, 1986. In 2004 he relocated to Lorain where he attended Admiral King High School. While enrolled there, he was a member of the varsity football team. Ricky proudly wore jersey number 75 as a lineman for the Admirals and received a varsity letter for his accomplishments on the gridiron there.

He was currently employed as manager of the A T & T retail store in Lorain; previously, he had been a member of the sales team at the company’s store in North Olmsted.

Ricky enjoyed soccer and formerly played goalie; when not actually playing, he enjoyed following the Manchester United Club. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys he enjoyed collecting sports cards and Star Wars Lego pieces in his free time.

He is survived by his daughter Leah Jasmine Vargas, mother Rosa Macias (Lorenzo), father Juan Vargas (Mari De La Luz Rios), sisters Ariana Henriquez-Gutierrez (Jonathan), Claudia Kushinski (Michael), and Amanda Arroyo (Jorge), and brother Andres Vargas. Ricky also leaves a host of extended family members of the Vargas, Sandoval, Macias, and Rios Families; he was preceded in death by his son Isaac Vargas in 2016).

Visitation will be Saturday May 2nd from 8:30 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel – 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Alex C. Spenik, Pastor of the parish will preside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are strongly encouraged to Ricky’s family for the benefit his daughter, Leah.
