Ronald J. Dennis, 88, Enjoyed Traveling

Photo of Ronald J. Dennis Ronald J. “Ron” Dennis, 88, of Sheffield Township, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday April 28, 2026.

He was born March 30, 1938 in Lorain to Joseph and Helen Dennis (nee Antus) and had been a lifelong resident of Sheffield Township.

Ron graduated from Clearview High School in 1957 and attended Fenn College in Cleveland. He worked at Lorain Products as a parts coding manager retiring in 2001 after 43 years.

Ron was a founding member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where he served mass for many parish funerals, was a member of the Holy Name Society, helped make pumpkin roll for the Holy Name Society and nut and poppy seed rolls for the Altar and Rosary Society.

Ron coached CYO basketball and Lorain Little League baseball. He served on the Sheffield Township zoning board and on the Koinonia Lake Park Association. Ron was an avid golfer and bowler and was honored for 25 years of consecutive participation in the USBC Open Championships. He enjoyed domestic and international travel.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Carolyn M. Dennis (nee Dziat), sons: Brent Dennis (Tina) and Brad Dennis (Debbie); grandchildren: Nico Dennis (Madison E.), Madison L. Dennis (Jared), Jarod Dennis and Nicole Manzo; great grandchildren: Myles and baby girl Dennis due in June) and brother Robert Dennis (Lana). He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Helen Dennis (nee Antus), in-laws Michael and Bertha Dziat, brother Richard Dennis and sister-in-law Velma Dennis.

The family will receive friends Thursday May 7, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Friday May 8, 2026 at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N Ridge Rd, Elyria. The Rev Neil Walters, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
