Richard A. Barry, Sr., 76, Enjoyed Fishing
Richard A. Barry, Sr, 76, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday May 27, 2026 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain.
He was born July 15, 1949 in Lorain to James and Dolores Barry (nee Myers).
Richard served with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He retired from CenturyTel where he worked as a lineman for 36 years. Richard enjoyed fishing and took yearly fishing trips to Canada with many friends and his son Richard Jr. He also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and taking his grandchildren on rides out to the country stopping at new little stores each time.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Julia Barry (nee Diaz), children: Diana Barry, Richard A. Barry Jr & Christina Barry; grandchildren: Allison Medina (Logan), Alexis Barry, Alyssa Torres, Santino Torres, Rosie Torres, Serina Maldonado, Justin Maldonado (Hannah), Lauren Terry, Ella Terry, Aelen Terry, Tiffany Barry and Jason Barry Jr, and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Jason Barry, parents James and Dolores Barry (nee Myers), brother Robert James Barry who was killed in action in Vietnam and brother Ronald Barry.
The family will receive friends Monday June 1, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio. A military service conducted by AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will follow at 8:00 pm in the funeral chapel.
