Brent J. Hodkey, 50, Will Be Dearly Missed

Photo of Brent J. Hodkey Brent J. Hodkey, age 50, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital on the afternoon of Friday June 26, 2026 following a brief illness.

Born in Lorain, he was a 1994 graduate of Admiral King High School. Brent went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and Finance from the University of Miami (Florida) and, later, his M.B.A. from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

He had been employed as a contractor for Aeyon Corporation as well as a Project Manager and Scheduler for the HyTEC Program at N.A.S.A.’s Lewis Research Center in Brookpark, Ohio. Brent was most proud, however, of the work he accomplished while affiliated with World Vision where he assisted in bettering the lives of countless people in underdeveloped and third world nations through enhancements to the countries’ infrastructures.

He is survived by his parents James and Mary Lou (nee Curley) Hodkey of Amherst, sister Stacey Thompson (Kevin) of Berea, niece Brianna Buddenhagen and nephew Declan Buddenhagen. Additional survivors include aunts Karen Curley of Lorain, and Jean Bobel (Frank) of Columbus, along with his uncle Dennis Hodkey (Denise) of Amherst; he also leaves a host of cousins.

Brent was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents LeRoy & Margaret (nee Long) Curley, paternal grandparents Aloysius and Helen (nee Solomon) Hodkey, and aunt Barbara Curley.

Private family funeral services have been conducted with the assistance of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
