Izek N. Rodriguez, 24, U.S. Navy Veteran
Izek N. Rodriguez, age 24, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly at UH Elyria Medical Center during the early morning hours of Thursday July 2, 2026.
He was born in Lorain on June 1, 2002 and remained a life-long resident of the city; Izek was a graduate of Lorain High School. While enrolled there, he was active with the Junior R.O.T.C Program.
Shortly following commencement, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon completion of basic training, he was transferred to the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut where he successfully completed all facets of training for entry into submarine service.
Izek fulfilled duty assignments as a Sonar Technician (Submarine) 3rd Class aboard the USS Texas, a Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast attack submarine based in Groton. He was deployed into conflict twice and was awarded the Navy Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. In addition, he received the Navy E Ribbon (officially known as the Battle Efficiency Ribbon) which is a prestigious U.S. Navy and Marine Corps unit award recognizing superior operational readiness and performance. In light of all of the places he visited during his military service, Izek found the time he spent based in the State of Maine to be the most rewarding.
Outside of the military, he was known for his love of the outdoors and could often be found engaged in camping, hunting, fishing, or dirt biking. Izek was also highly proficient in the art of knife-making.
He is survived by his parents George and Adrianne (nee Glenn) Rodriguez, Sr., brother George Rodriguez, Jr., and sisters Sadie Rodriguez (Jake Humble), Miranda Rodriguez (Moses Munez), and Angelica Rodriguez (Nate Steelman). He also leaves five nieces and two nephews.
Izek was preceded in death by his brother Sandalio in 2024, as well as maternal grandparents Felix and Isabelle Rodriguez, Sr.
Visitation will take place on Saturday July 11th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Lorri Bandagski, Pastor of Bethel Chapel will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery (Lorain) with military honors conducted by Amvets Post # 32.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Izek’s memory to the Lorain County Veterans Service Office.
