Robert A. Kubishke, 62, Avid Outdoorsman

Bob was born in Elyria on October 25, 1963; he was a 1982 graduate of Clearview High School & Lorain County Joint Vocational School where he was enrolled in the auto mechanics program. During that time, he was also a member of the Clipper varsity football team.

Following commencement, he worked for Bobel’s Office Products as well as Hutman and Sons Builders prior to joining Carpenter’s Local 305. Upon his retirement from the trade union in 2014, Bob joined the Avon Lake Public School System where he worked as a custodial aide at Westview Elementary School; at the time of his passing, he was working in the same capacity at Avon Lake High School.

Growing up, Bob was active in the Firelands Council of the Boy Scouts of America. With his father as his scoutmaster and mentor, he successfully progressed through all ranks of scouting culminating with recognition as Eagle Scout while a member of Troop 306 in 1981.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time; Bob was also well known for the annual fish-fry that he hosted (with the assistance of his family) every fall. When not walking the hunting fields or spending time aboard his boat, he could be found volunteering in the Band Booster’s concession stand at Clearview athletic events, cheering for his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt, Sr., or watching television classics on MeTV with his all-time favorite being the Andy Griffith Show.

Bob leaves his wife of thirty-eight years, Anita (nee Moore), along with daughter Jessica Sterna (Johnathan) of Amherst and twins Michelle and Rebecca Kubishke both of Lorain. Additional family members include his granddaughter Holly Sterna, and sisters Leigh Kubishke (Rudy Celestino) of Lorain, and Leslie Carson (Doug) of Elyria Township.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert. R. Kubishke in 2003 and by his mother Lois Kubishke in 2023.

Visitation will be Thursday July 16th from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Additional visitation will take place in the funeral chapel Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon; Reverend Lorri Bandagski, Pastor of Bethel Chapel will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park – Amherst Township.
