Jose E. Carrion, 81, Known for His Social Nature and Outgoing Personality

He was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on February 15, 1945 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1956. He was a 1963 graduate of Clearview High School.

Quique was well known for his social nature and outgoing personality as well as his desire to stay abreast of breaking news and current events. In addition, he was a man of great faith who regularly watched televised Masses when health precluded him from attending church in person. He was a very charitable man, who regularly donated to numerous charities and friends in need of assistance

Quique was an avid fan of television shows and movies pertaining to the Wild West. He enjoyed baseball and boxing and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Guardians.

He is survived by sisters Luz M. Carrion (Jeff Grega), Terri Maccarone (Rob) and Margarita Mendez (Obdulio, deceased), and brother Reinaldo Carrion (Sue). He also leaves nieces and nephews David Carrion (Stefanie), Carlos Mendez (Amber), Lisa Mendez (Nicholas Kerner), Jennifer Delich (Nick), Eric Shivey (Amanda), Kelly Cox (Matt), Christopher Maccarone and Dana Braudrick (Daniel). Additional survivors include great nieces and nephews Alex and Tessa Carrion, Sophia Mendez, Eliza and Ruby Delich, and Juliet, Lucas, and Nina Cox.

He was preceded in death by his father Carlos Carrion, mother Paulina Carrion (nee Martinez), sisters Carmen Maldonado and Maria Shivey, and brother Benny Carrion.

Friends may call Thursday, September 17th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Additional visitation will be observed at Sacred Heart Chapel – 4301 Pearl Avenue on Friday September 18th from 8:30 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Reverend Alex Spenik, Pastor of the parish will preside. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
